Bangladesh Beach Basket ball team won their game against Thailand by 19 to 14 points in the 3rd Asian Beach Games in Haiyang, China, on 19 June 2012. Mithun scored the highest basket. In the next match, on 20 June, India beat Bangladesh by 50-28 points.

The 8th Bangladesh Games, one of the biggest sports extravaganzas was inaugurated in digital system and in style at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on 20 April by Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Honorable Prime Minister declared open the colorful ceremony by putting her good wishes and signature on the digital electronic board.
